Abstract

The development of generative artificial intelligence has transformed the ways people access, read, and understand biblical texts. Algorithms can process language, identify patterns, summarize information, and generate interpretations, creating new opportunities for biblical studies while also raising epistemological and theological concerns. This study aims to analyze the characteristics of algorithmic biblical reading and formulate a Pentecostal hermeneutical response to the use of artificial intelligence in biblical interpretation. The study employs a qualitative library research method with a theological-hermeneutical approach. Literature on artificial intelligence, biblical hermeneutics, and Pentecostal hermeneutics is critically and thematically analyzed. The findings indicate that AI can function as an assisting instrument in interpretation but cannot replace the authority of Scripture, the work of the Holy Spirit, communal discernment, or the transformative orientation of Pentecostal hermeneutics. This study proposes a hermeneutical framework that positions AI as a supporting tool subject to the authority of Scripture and pneumatological and ecclesial discernment.
